Introducing our new 'Chunki Chef'

Alex Fletcher (Chunki Chef) is a multi award winning, head chef with years of experience of working in top establishments. He has won several awards, including shareholder/executive chef at a rustic Derbyshire bistro that after 10 months of opening, had won Restaurant and best newcomer of the year in Derbyshire.

His recipes have been in well-known magazines like Derbyshire Life, I’m Savvy, Devon life, Tesco GoodFoodGuide and IN Magazine to name just a few.

Alex already has quite the impressive résumé, he has worked with celebrity chef Mark Lloyd and also performed demonstrations at the illustrious Chatsworth House Country Fair and other big events.

Chunki has already worked with us in the past, back when he has relatively unknown, now he returns with his own chef brand on his back, heaps of experience and we are really excited to be working with him.


6 Questions with Chunki:


Why did you become a chef?

"Good question, it was never my plan to become a chef. I quite literally fell into a kitchen during my time in Keswick. After 6 months, I was running the kitchen, producing high quality dishes all from scratch and i believe that it was fate that I happened to be there at the right time. Looking back from where I started I find is fascinating, especially seeing what I have achieved."

 What can we expect from you?

"Real local quality food, all cooked from fresh ingredients."

What do you like most about cooking?

"I love cooking, it's all about creating new flavours, new dishes and being able to put a smile on peoples faces. That makes it all worthwhile for me."

What would you say is your signature dish?

"I would say is my Pork Belly with Chorizo fried potatoes and cider Jus. It is simply superb if I do say so myself."

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

"My biggest inspiration has always been Chef Gordon Ramsay. His knowledge and food brain is eye-watering. I also really love Mark Lloyd who is a huge forager who I have also have the privilege to work with on a collab."

What is your proudest moment as a chef?

"My proudest moment as a chef was starting my own chef brand! @Chunki_Chef. It has over 18k followers on Instagram and Facebook. Travelling around the UK helping businesses and making people smile with my creations. I'm back here at The Five Lamps, which will be my permanent home now and I am raring to go. I hope you all love the new Menu!"

The new menu will be will be released and launched on Wednesday 4th March.
